The 77th Emmy Awards, one of television’s most prestigious events, took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday morning (September 15). The ceremony was hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze.
Leading the nominations this year was the sci-fi drama Severance, which earned recognition in 27 categories. However, the night’s biggest surprise came from Netflix’s much-discussed series Adolescence, which emerged as the standout winner with six major awards.
Best Actor And Actress
Among its honors, Adolescence claimed the Emmy for Best Limited Series. Stephen Graham won Best Lead Actor, while Wayne Cooper and Erin Doherty secured the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively. The writing team of Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham also took home the prize for Best Writing (Limited Series). Director Philip Barantini rounded out the wins with the award for Best Director (Limited Series).
Critics hailed Adolescence as the defining success of this year’s Emmys, praising its diverse storytelling and powerful performances that resonated strongly with both audiences and judges.
