Goals from Phil Foden and Savinho earned Manchester City a comfortable 2-0 victory in the third round of the English Carabao Cup, sending Pep Guardiola’s team through to the fourth round after defeating Huddersfield.
Guardiola rotated his squad with nine changes ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal, but Foden remained crucial in attack, opening the scoring with a quick brace in the 18th minute following a clever one-two with Divine Mukasa.

Although Manchester City dominated possession with nearly 82% in the first half, they created few clear chances, while Huddersfield’s defense held firm. Huddersfield captain Ben Wiles nearly threatened with a shot that went wide before halftime.
The second half saw more of the same, with Manchester City struggling to break through despite numerous attempts. The deadlock was finally broken in the 74th minute when Savinho fired a powerful shot inside the box after a pass from Foden.
Calvin Phillips made a late appearance for City, returning to action after a lengthy absence. Huddersfield came close to scoring late on with a shot that hit the post, but they couldn’t find a goal to reduce the deficit.
