Former US President Donald Trump is set to present a plan to Arab and Muslim leaders aimed at ending Israel’s war on Gaza and addressing the region’s future. This meeting will take place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan attending.

Donald Trump proposal reportedly includes a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, deployment of regional peacekeeping troops, and a funded transition and reconstruction process. The plan excludes Hamas’s involvement and envisions some participation by the Palestinian Authority, despite Israel’s firm stance against a Palestinian state. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed readiness to contribute peacekeeping forces.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in massive civilian casualties and destruction, with recent Israeli military actions further intensifying the crisis. Ceasefire efforts have been complicated by Israeli strikes on Hamas targets, including leadership in Qatar, and repeated Israeli rejection of proposed truce terms. Hamas has reportedly submitted a letter proposing a 60-day truce guaranteed by Trump in exchange for releasing some captives, currently held by Qatar.
While these discussions unfold, Israeli forces continue heavy operations inside Gaza and the West Bank, causing extensive damage and casualties. Both Trump and Qatar’s Emir are scheduled to address the UNGA amid growing calls for renewed peace talks.
