Barcelona had a chance to overtake Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings but were beaten 4-1 by Sevilla in a disappointing performance. Robert Lewandowski added to the misery by missing a crucial penalty during the match.

Sevilla took an early lead when Alexis Sanchez scored a penalty in the 13th minute, followed by a second goal from Isak Romero in the 36th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error. Marcus Rashford pulled one back for Barcelona just before halftime with his first La Liga goal. However, two late goals by Sevilla in stoppage time sealed the victory.

This defeat ended Barcelona’s unbeaten run in La Liga and marked their second consecutive loss after strong early-season form. Key players such as Lamine Yamal and Rafinha missed the match due to injuries. Barcelona managed 8 shots on target from 17, while Sevilla had 5 on target from 13 attempts.

In the second half, Barca showed more fight and were awarded a penalty at the 73rd minute after Alessandro Balde was fouled, but Lewandowski missed the spot-kick. Sevilla then secured the win with goals from Jose Angel Carmona and Akor Adams in added time.

With this result, Barca stays in second place with 19 points from eight games, two points behind Real Madrid who lead with 21 points. Villarreal is third with 16 points, and Sevilla is fourth with 13 points.
