Barcelona came from behind to secure a thrilling 3-1 home victory over Oviedo in La Liga on Thursday night under Hansi Flick’s management.
Oviedo’s club legend Santi Cazorla, playing his first La Liga start at 40 years old at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium, gave the visitors an early advantage with a first-half goal. However, Barca turned the game around after halftime.
Oviedo took the lead in the 33rd minute when Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia mishandled a through ball from Cazorla, making a poor pass that allowed Alberto Reina to score a stunning long-range shot from midfield (1-0).

Barcelona responded strongly after the break. Eric Garcia leveled the score in the 62nd minute by capitalizing on a rebound after Fernando Torres’ shot struck the post. Then in the 76th minute, Robert Lewandowski headed home a precise cross from substitute Frenkie de Jong to put the Catalans ahead (2-1). Ronald Araujo sealed the win in stoppage time with a header from Marcus Rashford’s corner (3-1).
Oviedo suffered a disappointing defeat in their historic La Liga opener with Cazorla, leaving them in the relegation zone with just three points from six games. Meanwhile, unbeaten Barcelona have narrowed the gap on league leaders Real Madrid to two points.
