Five Injured After Helicopter Crashes in Huntington Beach

Authorities said, Five people were injured Saturday afternoon when a helicopter crashes in Huntington Beach, California.The crash occurred around 2 p.m. local time between Twin Dolphins Drive and Beach Boulevard, according to city officials. Videos captured by bystanders showed the helicopter’s wreckage tangled in palm trees near a nearby hotel. A city spokesperson said two people were pulled from the helicopter, while three others on the ground were also hurt. All five victims were transported to local hospitals, though their conditions were not immediately known.

The city said the helicopter was connected to a “Cars and Copters” event scheduled for Sunday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified and will lead the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Witness Timothy Bartlett told he was filming a TikTok video of helicopters landing when he captured the crash on camera.

“I was stunned,” Bartlett said. “As soon as I saw it spinning, I knew it was going to crash because it just didn’t look right.”

Helicopter Crashes in Huntington Beach and then He added that people rushed toward the wreckage before police moved them back for safety. Bartlett said it appeared the helicopter’s tail rotor broke off before impact and that he saw fuel leaking from the aircraft, though it did not catch fire.
