Two Pennsylvania State Troopers Shot, Suspect Killed After Car Chase in Franklin County

Two Pennsylvania state troopers were wounded and a suspect was killed after a police chase ended in a gunfight in Franklin County on Wednesday evening.

According to authorities, the troopers were taken to a nearby hospital one in critical condition and the other in serious condition.

The incident began around 6 p.m. when troopers responded to reports of a retail theft at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Chambersburg, the Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle heading toward Interstate 81, prompting a pursuit. Troopers eventually deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle, bringing it to a stop off the road.

Police said two female suspects complied with orders and were taken into custody without incident. However, a male suspect opened fire on the troopers, striking two of them. Officers returned fire, fatally shooting the gunman.
