Trump and Netanyahu Announce New Gaza Peace Plan to End Conflict

Trump and Netanyahu announce a new proposal aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, presenting what they describe as a historic opportunity for peace. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, a hostage exchange, and a roadmap for Gaza’s future governance, while warning Hamas that failure to accept the terms will bring further consequences. The proposal outlines a halt to military operations within 72 hours in exchange for the release of 20 living Israeli hostages and the remains of more than two dozen who are believed dead. In return, Israel would release hundreds of detained Gazans, including prisoners and remains of those killed.

The plan stipulates that Hamas will no longer play any role in governing Gaza. Instead, the territory would be overseen by a temporary technocratic Palestinian committee, monitored by a new international body called the “Board of Peace.” This board will be chaired by Trump and include international figures such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

In addition, the document sets out measures for humanitarian aid, economic recovery, and eventual reconstruction of Gaza. The plan promises that once both parties agree, full aid shipments will immediately enter the territory. It also includes a staged withdrawal of Israeli forces while ensuring Hamas’s military infrastructure, including tunnels and weapons factories, is dismantled. At a joint press conference in Washington, Trump called the announcement “a historic day for peace.” He stated that the United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself but emphasized that this plan gives Hamas a chance to end the bloodshed. He also warned that if Hamas rejects the terms, Israel will have full backing to continue its campaign against the group.

Netanyahu reinforced the message, saying Israel will “finish the job” if Hamas refuses or fails to comply. The Palestinian Authority, while not directly involved in the plan, welcomed what it described as a sincere and determined effort. It expressed readiness to work with the United States, regional states, and other partners to secure aid delivery, release hostages, and create a lasting framework for peace.

The proposal has received broad international attention. European Council President Antonio Costa praised the effort, calling on all parties to seize the moment. French President Emmanuel Macron described the plan as bold, adding that it should pave the way for a two-state solution. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged Hamas to agree, stating that laying down arms and releasing hostages was the only path to ending misery in Gaza. The document makes clear that Israel will not annex Gaza and that Palestinians will not be forced to leave the territory. Instead, the plan emphasizes rebuilding Gaza through an international economic development initiative.

By leaving the door open for an eventual Palestinian state, the plan attempts to balance immediate security needs with long-term political goals. Whether Hamas accepts the deal remains uncertain, but the Trump and Netanyahu announce initiative has already reshaped the international conversation about Gaza’s future.
